Iconography for an Icon.
Dolby Laboratories is a leading developer of audio technologies for cinema, computers, and games. They asked us to design a cohesive iconography system to codify their services and output.
I worked closely with Dolby’s design leaders to create the complex iconography set. The family of icons is now implemented in a variety of mediums ranging from digital to physical products.
The icons make up a powerful visual language consisting of more than 100 individual symbols across a breadth of purpose and tone. They range from the literal to abstract, playful to descriptive, simple to complex and are designed to be instantly recognizable yet fun.
Example of implementation.
Other designers on the project were Jeff Jarvis, Farbod Kokabi, and intern Gemma Lindenau (pictured).
